You Need to Track Keys with a Key Organizer
Many of the people I talk to don’t even consider their keys when considering home security. It’s a common mistake. Everyone seems to focus on the intruder that will “break in” through your doors or windows. So they buy the expensive alarm systems — the motion detectors, the window and door sensors, etc. And that is great, don’t get me wrong.
But what good is the fancy electronic equipment, auto-dialing controller, and the $50 a month payment if you don’t even secure the keys to your doors?
You need to take care of the small stuff to make the big stuff worth the expense. Inexpensive key organizers can be purchased for as little as ten dollars. For that price, how can you not secure your keys and your home?
If you don’t have a plan to secure and organize the keys to your home or business, the time to make one is now. You wouldn’t be here if the safety of your family or the security of your business wasn’t of the upmost importance to you.
And for both homeowners and business owners, having no accountability for your keys can be a nightmare. I’ve known a family who had a set of keys fall into the wrong hands (one of their teens let a “friend” use them). By the time the parents knew any better, the house had been used for a massive party while they were on vacation, and damages were over a thousand dollars. Don’t let this happen to you.
On the business side, while it’s not fun to think about, it’s vitally important that your employees have accountability for the key sets they use. Many business owners know all too well that employee theft is one of the biggest concerns in loss prevention.
For a business, the costs of not securing and organizing your keys can be high. There is nothing worse than the feeling of having your hard-earned money (whether this is cash or not) taken by someone whom you had trusted.
Key organizers can be the solution to these problems. For a homeowner, securely storing your spare keys in a locked key cabinet can prevent them being given away without you knowing. It’s vitally important to include your family in your security plans as well.
For a business owner, an electronic key safe will individually identify your employees and track every time they remove and return a key from the key safe. These devices do cost a little more up front, but the long-term savings will make it all worth it.
